Dear Norbert, thank you for taking time out to talk to the Literary Magazine Enheduana. Could you present yourself to our readers.
It’s also a pleasure for me. My name is Norbert Góra. I’m 33-years-old poet and writer from Poland. More than 150 of my pieces have been published in the various anthologies/magazines/projects and journals almost all around the world.
When did you discover the love of poetry?
I must admit that before the love of poetry came, there was a period of flirting with it. In 2007, as a high school student, I wrote a poem for a competition dedicated to ecology. The victory encouraged me a lot to get to know lyric. In fact, love was still far away. I discovered the power of this feeling in 2015, thanks to the first acceptance abroad.
What poetry means to you?
It's a kind of therapy that I try to do in order to be able to exist normally. Words are still welling up in the depths of the soul and need an outlet through poems. Poetry is also the way my thoughts sometimes go.
If you could compare it with an object, what would it be?
If prose is the wind blowing in the sails of action, poetry is a single gust locked in a capsule of emotion.
Is poetry your favorite literary expression and if so, why?
I like poetry, but it’s not my favorite literary expression. Sometimes I really need to use prose to make sense of some of the events I write about.
What you consider the biggest success in your life, in regards to writing?
I think that my poems have been published almost all around the world in such a different languages. I also received a lot of diplomas and even a few awards for my poetry writing. That’s the biggest success in my life.
Tell us a bit about your first poetry steps. I couldn't play with words much at the beginning. I tried not to rhyme. My first poems were soaked with emotions.
Do you have favorite poets or poems?
I've read so many poems that it's hard to pick a favorite. There are so many outstanding poets that everyone will find something for themselves.
How do you see poetry today. Do you feel that poetry is changing as the whole world is changing?
Yes, indeed. I'm witnessing a trend I've never seen before. Poetry is experiencing a renaissance. Emotions of opposition to the negative phenomena that are currently occurring in many countries are beginning to awaken in people. There are a lot of open calls for anthologies dedicated to peace, respect for mother nature, ecology, awareness. It’s a real siege!
Do you prefer printed books or digital ones? What is your general opinion about increasing occurrence in which poetry art goes digital (digital books, online anthologies, zoom poetry meetings...)
I prefer printed books, but the art of poetry cannot be confined only to print. Due to the fact that the world is now a global village, many poets speak more than one language and look for opportunities to fulfill themselves abroad. I understand perfectly these huge distances separating us from each other make it impossible to close poetry in the book. For many of us, online meetings are on par with live festivals.
How do you see the future of poetry? How you see yourself in future.
Still in the process of evolution! Speaking of me, I would like to be happy and healthy.
How would you like your carrier to be in the days to come?
I think my career is already looking the way I would like it to, with a clear sense of security.
