nheduana is an ancient Sumerian poet who lived in the middle of the 23rd century BC and is considered the first writer in the history of world literature. This Sumerian priestess and poet is also the first author to sign her work.
Enheduana was an Akkadian princess, poet, priestess, warrior, ruler, astronomer. She was the most important religious figure of her time. Her name is composed of the words "En" (high priestess), "hedu" (decoration) and "ana" (heaven). It is also known that she called herself the embodiment of the goddess Ningal, that is, the earthly wife of the moon god Inanna. With her literary work, she set standards for poetry and the form of prayer that would deeply influence the Bible i Homeric hymns, and therefore on the entire flow of world literature.
